Pakistani by marriage: India likely to deport Amina Begum to Pakistan

New Delhi: India likely to deport Amina Begum, a Pakistani by marriage. She managed to reside in India for 21 years.

According to the report published in Times of India, she had left Lahore along with four children on 11th May 1997. She had taken this decision after the death of her husband.

After reaching Delhi, she starting residing at parents house located in Chauhan Banger area. She got a 90-days Indian visa. Her visa was extended periodically. In 2007, it was extended for another 10 years.

After that, Amina did not approach authorities fearing deportation to Pakistan.

However, recently, Special Branch of Delhi Police traced and arrested her along with her two sons.

It may be mentioned that Amina (50) has two sons, Umar Draz (22) and Mohammad Waqas (25) and two daughters Asma (27) and Uzma (29).

Giving the details of Begum’s marriage, her brother, Akhlaq Ali told that in 1990, Amina got married to a distant relative, Mohammed Nafees, a citizen of Pakistan.

Later, Nafees died in an accident. After the death of her husband, Amina left Lahore as her life had become miserable.

Ali also said that his father had helped Amina in performing marriages of her daughters. Ali further said that children must go back as they belong to Pakistan.

Amina’s daughter, Uzma said that she is a foreigner in her home country. She also said that Amina had started worrying after the expiry of visa.
