Kabul: Offering an invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Kabul, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani asked to rise beyond the past and offered bilateral efforts for restoring peace. He made the offer on Saturday to visiting Pakistani National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua in Kabul. He was on a one-day visit to Kabul. Lt. Gen. Nasser Khan Janjua had made the Afghan visit on the invitation of his counterpart Hanif Atmar.
In a statement released by the office of the advisor of Pakistan National Security, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani associated strong hopes with Pakistan and said “We have made a sincere and serious offer of peace and together we have to make the best of it by rising beyond past. Let’s not remain prisoners of past and let’s secure our future with the aim not to win the war but to end it for which Pakistan should help”.
He invited Pakistani prime minister to visit Afghanistan. Pakistani National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua welcomed the positive gesture of Afghan leaders and termed the peace offer the light at the end of the tunnel in a war which had become rather perpetual. He expressed deep sympathies with the people of Afghanistan who have seen nothing but war since the last 40 years. He also expressed complete support for the peace offer which was long awaited.
Nasser Khan while welcoming the offer of an olive branch said, “Isolated, blamed and coerced Pakistan is of lesser use to Afghanistan.”
