Palestine becomes fastest-growing tourist spot in UN’s 2017 list

As per a new report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Palestinian territories have become the fastest growing tourism destination in the world with an increase of 57.8 percent in international arrivals in the first six months of 2017.

List of 10 destinations in 2017, according to Haaretz, categorised by two trends: an impressive recovery from terrorist attacks and tourists’ search for exotic locales that hadn’t previously been thought of as popular destinations.

The UNWTO says, if this rate of 57.8 growth keeps going up, the Palestine will have 630,000 tourists this year.

The Telegraph had published the below-mentioned list:

1. Palestine
2. Egypt
3. Northern Mariana Island
4. Iceland
5. Tunisia
6. Vietnam

The surge in tourism is attributed to the well-publicized opening of the Walled Off Hotel, a hotel started by the artist Banksy in West Bank.

The report also contains two other Arab countries in its top ten list. They include Egypt, which came in second and fifth position is given to Tunisia.
