Panchayat reservations by June 10: Jupally

Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today instructed the officials concerned to complete the process of finalising reservations for Panchayat elections for Sarpanches by conducting BC Census by June 10.

During a meeting with officials at Secretariat here, the minister discussed on reservations, Haritha Haram and other programs at district and rural level. He has asked to expedite the process of data collecting with complete details giving no room for faults or wrong information. The department will announce the reservations for the Panchayat Electons for 31 districts on June 10 he said. Collectors will announce the reservations at district level.

The officials informed that BC Census process will be completed by May end they have taken up SC and ST reservations based on 2011 census details. The minister said that Sarpach reservations in districts will be announced by panchayat raj commissioner and mandal reservations will be announced by collectors by June 10. As per new Panchayat Raj Act every village will have to grow Nurseries and contribute for the Haritha Haram program to increase greenery.

It was decided to start nurseries in mandals and villages by June 10 and complete the process by 15. The villages with one lakh population will start nurseries with 1 lakh saplings and with less population will have to start 50000 saplings including that of fruit and flowers. Krishna Rao also instructed to provide to relax or change norms to appoint field assistants and offer the job of maintaining nurseries to the workers of employment guarantee scheme. Ensure power supply and put the details of staff and facilities online and fix LED lights in all panchayats and focus on sanitation drive. (NSS)
