Parents, smartphones responsible for rising rape incidents: BJP MLA Surendra Singh

Ballia: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Surendra Singh on Monday blamed parents for the increasing incidents of rape in the country and suggested that this can be prevented only by not allowing young boys and girl to use smartphones.

The legislator from Bairia in Ballia district said that parents should keep a strict vigil on their children up to 15 years of age and they shouldn’t be allowed to roam around freely and use smartphones.

Earlier, on April 12, 2018, defending BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who has been accused of raping an 18-year-old woman in 2017, Singh had said that the Unnao rape victim had filed a “false rape case” against a man in the past.

“I have heard that the same girl had filed a false rape case against a man some years back, because of which the man had to spend six months in jail,” he had told ANI.

“I am speaking from a psychological point of view; no one can rape a mother of three children. It is not possible, this is a conspiracy against him (Sengar).”
