Parents should stop taking dowry – Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while addressing a gathering of Du-ba-Du (Face-to-Face) Matrimonial Alliance Program organized by Minorities Development Forum of Siasat Urdu Daily at Khaja Mansion Function Hall, yesterday told that the parents of the groom should stop taking dowry. They should prefer the brides with good character and noble families. He regretted that the matrimonial problems of Hyderabad and other States of the country have become very serious. Its main reason is that our society has become greedy which is un-Islamic. The marriages of the girls are becoming late extraordinarily.

He further told that Muslim society has made marriages difficult instead of making simpler. He stressed the need for the parents and especially ladies not to insist on their wishes. They should provide congenial atmosphere for the marriage of their children. Unnecessary and extra expenses in marriages have weakened our economy. During the efforts of Siasat Urdu Daily and Minorities Development Forum, the thinking process of the parents has changed. He mentioned that he started propagating the movement for serving one dish and one sweet dish in marriages. Its objective is to save the parents of the bride from extra expenditure. He appealed to the parents of the boys to end the evil of taking dowry. They would be answerable for this in the life hereafter.
