Pay tax and enjoy New Year celebrations: Commissioner

Hyderabad: The Commissioner of State Tax has informed that entertainment events to be conducted on the eve of New Year 2019 attract tax under the provisions of the TGST Act, 2017. Therefore, the New Year event organizers need to be registered under TGST/CGST Acts as Casual Taxable Persons under Section 25(1) of the TGST/CGST Acts and if they have not already registered under the Acts are required to pay advance tax @28% based on the estimated turnover before the commencement of the events.

Any non-compliance in this regard will be viewed seriously. Apart from the GST tax due @ 28%, if wilful, penalty equal to tax (100%) will be imposed on the violators, the Commissioner warned.

The Commissioner appealed to all organizers and the people participating in the events to enjoy the New Year celebrations after paying taxes due to the State government.
