Pehlu Khan lynching: Activists, politicians attack Rajasthan police for clean chit

ALWAR: Clean chit to the six accused in connection with the lynching of Pehlu Khan case has prompted nationwide outrage across India.

The 55-year-old a dairy farmer, in “dying declaration” to the police has revealed names of six accused gau- rakshaks allegedly linked to Bajrang Dal and VHP.

Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID)  recommended Alwar police to struck off the names of all six Hukum Chand, Navin Sharma, Jagmal Yadav, Om Prakash, Sudheer and Rahul Saini since they failed to find evidences.

Social media users including political leaders to several civil rights group took to Twitter to raise their objection.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) twitter, “No one killed Pehlu Khan, despite his dying statement and other proof available. Dear BJP-RSS, a cover-up amounts to complicity in lynching.”

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “How foolish to expect anyone would be found guilty of murder! #PehluKhan committed suicide & staged the lynching to make a dramatic exit.”

On April 1, Pehlu Khan, a Meo Muslim, hailing from Nuh was attacked by a mob of Gau Rakshaks after they were on  way back home from a cattle fair.

Two days later, Khan succumbed to his injuries.
