Penalty Point System of traffic police: 1065 cases registered on the first day

Hyderabad Traffic Police registered 1065 cases on the first day of the implementation of Penalty Point System. 998 cases were registered against two wheeler commuters, 11 cases against three wheeler drivers, 19 cases against 4 wheeler drivers and 37 cases against lorry drivers were booked.

It may be mentioned that if a person accrues 12 penalty points, his driving licence could be cancelled. Violation of traffic points have been distributed in the following manner:

1. Sitting beside auto driver’s seat 1
2. Carrying more than the allowed passengers 2
3. Carrying more than the allowed passengers 1
4. Wrong side 2
5. More than 40km/hr speed where there is a limit 3
6. Driving in drunken condition for two wheelers 3
7. Driving in drunken condition for 4 and 6 wheelers 4
8. Driving in drunken condition for public service vehicles, cabs etc 5
9. Uncontrollable speed 3
10. Sound pollution 2
11. Not keeping documents 2
12. In road accident, if victim gets injured 2
13. In road accident, if victim dies 5
