Pete Davidson slams Kanye West for Pro-Trump speech on ‘SNL’

Washington: American comedian Pete Davidson slammed Kanye West for giving a pro-Trump speech during last week’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL) episode.

West, who was the musical guest during last week’s SNL episode, had concluded his performance by wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat and giving a pro-Trump speech, which was not aired.

Saturday Night Live shared a video of Davidson talking about West’s speech on its Twitter handle, writing, “Pete dropped by the Weekend Update desk to talk about last week’s musical guest, Kanye West. #SNL”

Speaking about the hat, Davidson said that West continued to wear the hat even after he was repeatedly told by the people not to wear it. Davidson also said that he wished that he had bullied West into not wearing the hat, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Davidson felt that the speech was one of the worst ever, reported Entertainment Weekly. “One of the worst, most awkward things I’ve ever seen here – and I’ve seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern,” said Davidson.

The 24-year-old also stated that Kanye has gone off the rails and talked about the rapper’s mental health, “I know you’re like, ‘This is the real me, I’m off the meds’ . take them . there’s nothing wrong with taking them. Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass.”
After slamming the speech and ranting enough about it, Davidson ended it by flaunting a hat that read, “Make Kanye 2006 Again.”

Kanye West, has been vocal about his support for US President Donald Trump, and had delivered a pro-Trump speech on the premiere of the 44th season of SNL. Though his speech was not aired, the 41-year-old received applauds from Trump in a tweet.
