PM Modi condemns vandalism incidents, MHA issues advisories

New Delhi: Reacting to various vandalism incidents that have been reported in certain parts of India yesterday, PM Modi on Wednesday has ‘strongly’ condemned the act.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said, “Incidents of toppling of statues have been reported from certain parts of the country. MHA has taken serious notes of such incidents of vandalism. PM also spoke to Home Minister in this regard and has expressed his strong disapproval of such incidents.”

Asking other states to take stern action against the wrongdoers, the MHA said, “Persons indulging in such acts must be sternly dealt with and booked under relevant provisions of law,”
Yesterday multiple incidents of vandalism across India were reported and with a similar incident is reported from Tripura where another statue of Vladimir Lenin vandalized mobs.

The statue was demolished at Sabroom Motor Stand in Agartala by unidentified individuals.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh taking cognizance of the vandalism incidents in Tripura, spoke to the state Governor Tathagata Roy and DGP AK Shukla, asking the officials to ensure peace till a new Government is formed.

One BJP worker and another CPI worker have been arrested in connection with vandalizing ‘Periyar’ EV Ramaswamy statue in Tamil Nadu, Zee news said.
