PM Modi congratulates Maharashtra CM Fadnavis, R Patil Danve on Gram Panchayat polls victory

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state unit president Raosaheb Patil Danve for the massive win of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Gram Panchayat polls across the state.

“I congratulate @BJP4Maharashtra, @Dev_Fadnavis and @raosahebdanve for the impressive performance in Gram Panchayat polls across the state,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

In preceding tweets, he also thanked the people of Maharashtra, and said the victory in rural area denotes “unwavering support of the farmers, youth and poor for BJP’s development agenda”.

The results for the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections in Maharashtra were declared on Monday.

According to a BJP leader, results for 2974 out of 3,489 gram panchayats were declared, in which BJP nominees were elected in 1,457 Panchayat Samitis as Sarpanch, followed by Congress (301), Shiv Sena (222) and NCP (194).

Earlier in the year, BJP won big in Maharashtra municipal council polls, bagging 78 posts of municipal council presidents in the direct elections followed by Congress (36), Shiv Sena (26), and NCP (21). (ANI)
