Pocharam holds budget review

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today instructed the officials concerned to make need based proposals for the agriculture for budgetary allocations. He held a review meeting with the officials here and sought their suggestions on allocations in the wake of the government plans to allot about Rs 25000 crore to farm sector and similar amount to irrigation sector.

He said that the government is to make better allocations for the agriculture sector and also irrigation. The minister said that the farm sector will benefit through the crop investment of Rs 4000 per acre as its production got a fillip with 24 hour power supply. Directing DAOs to focus on Rabi crops, the minister said that 8.04 lakh hectares out of 12.77 lakh hectares are under cultivation in the State. Effective coordination among the officials will help reach the target, he said. The officials were asked to submit the details of area of cultivable lands to the government in seven days. (NSS)
