Participating in the third day of World Telugu Conference at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium here, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy lauded the poets for their efforts to develop Telugu language and poetry.
Along with MLC Karne Prabhakar, the minister participated in the “Brihat Kavi Sammelanam” as chief guest and felicitated the poets with shawls. Speaking on the occasion, he said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was giving top priority for promoting Telugu language, poetry and literature. The State Government was doing its best for propagating the Telugu language and bring to the fore the greatness of the poets, writers and scholars of Telangana State.
“The World Telugu Conference is first of its kind in the country and I extend my greetings to all poets, writers and literary personalities, who came from all parts of the world”, he said, adding “We are conducting World Telugu Conference in such a way that all those, who like the language will bless it”, Srinivas Reddy said. He also said the program was unfolding the truth that Telangana has a large number of poets, scholars and writers in Telugu. He compared the language like tasty food items of Telangana and healthy and interesting. “The conference will expose to the world about our Telugu and its use at national level after Hindi”, he said.
MLC Karne Prabhakar said the World Telugu Conference will give adequate focus on Telangana language and its dialect in a big way. Telangana is not just the language of districts or the State but it is one that gone beyond the frontiers, Prabhakar said. Previous governments neglected Telangana language and poets and now the TRS government will give them due recognition and support, he said. So far, Andhra leaders encouraged cinemas, their dialect and now Telangana slang has got priority, he said.
With the great world event, Hyderabad has become a stage for giving top priority to the language and its dialect of Telangana. He also said Chief Minister KCR got the credit for uniting all people from Adilabad to Mahabubnagar for separate state movement. (NSS)
