Police deny permission to TJAC million march today

The police have refused permission for organizing a Million March at Tank bund on Saturday.

The million march was planned by Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC). CPM State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy sought permission and dashed a letter to the Central police authorities seeking permission for million march. He sent the letter on March 2.

The city police, however, rejected permission on the ground that anti-social elements may take advantage and infiltrate into the planned million march and may cause disturbance. The police also cited the example of disturbances during last million march in which many people were injured. Permission cannot be given in view of the ongoing Intermediate examinations and without knowing the names of speakers, the DCP said in a statement.

TJAC leaders are holding a meeting about alternatives after the police refused the permission. (NSS)
