Ponguleti urges KCR to convene all-party meet for clarifications

Requesting Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to convene an all-party meeting on all the irrigation projects taken up by the State government for various clarifications on the ongoing projects, Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy alleged that the arrest of Congress leaders and sending them to various police stations was “undemocratic and unethical”.

Ponguleti addressed a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard on Wednesday. He urged the Chief Minister not to violate the Land Acquisition Act-2013 while extending compensation to the farmers and villagers, who lost their lands in the proposed Mallanna Sagar Reservoir. He said the police arresting the Congress leaders, who were peacefully marching towards the Mallanna Sagar, amounted to “undemocratic” attitude of the government.

Ponguleti also said the management of Film Nagar Cultural Club (FNCC) started construction illegally without obtaining permission from the GHMC. He said the police showed negligent attitude towards the Film Nagar Cultural Club management. He sought the Chief Minister’s intervention to direct the concerned police authorities for immediate arrest of the management of the FNCC. He also asked the Chief Minister to come forward to protect the families of the labor, who lost their lives. (NSS)
