Ponguleti writes to CM on impending water crisis in State

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress Legislature Party deputy leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy today requested Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to direct the officials concerned to take preventive measures to combat impending water crisis in the State and also establish a contingency plan keeping in view the problem

In a letter to the Chief Minister today, Pongueti said acute shortage of water for drinking as well as for agricultural purpose was prevailing in the State. The ground water in all parts of the State, has dipped by around 70 percent of mandals because of scanty rainfall.

He also reminded that experts opined that the water crisis would worsen in the next few months, including Hyderabad. According to the State government’s executive summary report, out of 584 mandals in the State, only 27 have received excess rainfall, 204 mandals received deficit rainfall from 20% to 59% and other 13 mandals received scanty rainfall in the State.
