Prakash Ambedkar slams Sharad Pawar for ‘ignoring’ Dawood’s surrender proposal

Mumbai: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar on Tuesday asked NCP chief Sharad Pawar to answer why he ignored underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s proposal to surrender in the 1990s.

“I want to know whether Sharad Pawar had a discussion with the then Prime Minister and the intelligence department when he got to know that Dawood Ibrahim wants to surrender through Ram Jethmalani, or did he himself take some decision. People should know about this. In the backdrop of Pulwama, we can see that Pakistan has not stopped,” Ambedkar told ANI here.

“We point fingers at Dawood Ibrahim after any such incident happens. It won’t be wrong if I say that if Dawood Ibrahim would have surrendered at that time, no blasts would have happened in India,” he added.

Pawar was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra when Dawood met senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani and expressed willingness to surrender to the authorities in India, Ambedkar said at a press conference on Tuesday.
However, Ambedkar claimed that Pawar ignored the proposal.
