President Kovind extends Chhath Puja greetings

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday extended his good wishes and greetings to the citizens on the occasion Chhath Puja.

A statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan read, “On the occasion of Chhath Puja, I extend warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens whether in India or abroad.”
The President in his message also urged the people to make all efforts to combat pollution.

“Chhath Puja is one of the oldest festivals of our country wherein devotees worship the Sun God. We also pay our obeisance towards our rivers, lakes, and ponds, which are nature’s gifts to us,” he said.

“Let this year’s Chhath Puja fulfil wishes of each and every one and bestow health and happiness on all. Let us resolve to make our environment, including all our water resources, safe and pollution free,” the President added.

Furthermore, the Government of National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Chhath.
