Probe initiated in sexual misconduct case against Neil deGrasse Tyson

Washington D.C. [USA], Dec 01 (ANI): An investigation has been initiated by Fox and the producers of the television series ‘Cosmos’ after multiple sexual misconduct allegations were levelled against the show’s host, Neil deGrasse Tyson.

According to Variety, the investigation was opened after a report was published on the website ‘Patheos’ in which two women accused the astrophysicist of inappropriate sexual behavior.

“The credo at the heart of ‘Cosmos’ is to follow the evidence wherever it leads. The producers of ‘Cosmos’ can do no less in this situation. We are committed to a thorough investigation of this matter and to act accordingly as soon as it is concluded,” the producers said in a joint statement.

Meanwhile, Fox Broadcasting asserted that matters pertaining to sexual misconduct are taken seriously and recent reports are being reviewed.

“We have only just become aware of the recent allegations regarding Neil deGrasse Tyson. We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports,” the statement read.

In the article published on ‘Patheos’, Dr. Katelyn N. Allers of Bucknell University claimed that deGrasse Tyson groped her at an event in 2009.

Another woman, Ashley Watson, who was Tyson’s assistant, alleged that she quit her job in response to repeated inappropriate sexual advances he made towards her.

The allegations have surfaced roughly a year after musician Tchiya Amet claimed that Tyson had raped her when they were both graduate students.

Tyson hosted 2014’s ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey’ and ‘Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.’ [source_without_link]ANI[/source_without_link]
