Protection of Rs. 3 lakh crore wakf properties essential: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan writes to CM

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana should issue necessary instructions to the survey officials to prevent entry of wakf lands as Govt. properties. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily sent a letter to CM of TS, Mr. KCR inviting his attention to make use of the latest facilities to protect wakf properties. He reminded Mr. KCR that as President of TRS, he had promised that the lands acquired by Lanco Hills would be taken back to give the same to the Muslims. He had also declared that in case TRS assumed power, necessary steps would be taken in this regard but despite, the lapse of three years, there is no progress in this case.

He further told that conducting a survey of Govt. lands in Telangana State is a welcome gesture but in this survey, there are apprehensions about wakf lands given to farmers for cultivation that these lands could be entered as their own lands. All the district collectors should be suitably instructed to identify properties of 58000 wakf institutions and to enter them as wakf properties since all these properties have already been registered by Wakf Board.

He further pointed out that in A.P. registration of wakf properties have made impossible and instructions have been issued to revenue department not to register any wakf properties in Kurnool District.

Govt. of Telangana should also issue instructions on the same lines to revenue authorities. The ruling class in Telangana should release districtwise survey number of the lands which are entered as wakf properties. He also requested the State Govt. to make use of GPS Technology and survey the lands through satellite mapping.

If TS Govt. intends to make the survey better and comprehensive, it should exhibit honesty in showing wakf properties since the previous governments did not take any stern action for the protection of wakf lands. The present Govt. had promised during its election campaign to protect wakf lands and it is time to fulfill its promise.

It is expected that Revenue Department in consultation with State Wakf Board would ensure that wakf properties are protected.
