Hyderabad: A public hearing on poor learning outcomes in private and Government schools was organized by the Child Rights Protection forum and Mothers Association here today which said that the present Education system was not qualitative and majority of the children could not even write simple words.
The hearing was organized by the Child Rights Protection Form(CRPF) and Mothers Association with other civil Society organizations and conducted a social audit of the learning capapcities of children in Hyderabad . Prof. K. Nageshwar Rao Former MOLC , Joya District Legal Services Authority Hyderabad Ms. Hemalalitha Advocate High Court of Telangana Mr. G. Venugopal President Child Rights Protection Forum G. Bhagyalaxmi President Hyderabad Mother Association who were present as jury members held that class wise learning ability to study should improve and that the civil society and other stake holders should bring pressure on the Government to improve the learning skills of the children.
They said that the people are demanding good education and not doles like double bed room widow pension or the various schemes announced by the Government. Instead the Government should thrust on good education which will be the future asset to both the child and the society at large.
Every parent wants good education for their children Government should take special interest for the children of the poor to ensure they get quality education . Every school should provide breakfast in addition to midday meal. Teachers should be supervised and monitored. The present system does not keep a tab on the Teachers and this needs to be improved they recommended.
They also said that the onus of good education should be on the Government and not on the parent .
Earlier the CRPF said that a assessment was done in Hyderabad district in 11 mandals from class 5 to 10 th in which a class three paper was provided but unfortunately 2203 students could not even write simple word in Telugu . In all 2537 children were assessed.
The assessment report said 2193 children could not even write simple sentences , 1741 children could not write 4 to 5 sentences or paragraph . 1682 children could not do simple multiplication of addition , 2172 could not do division 2399 could not do writing . The assessment was started in May and concluded within 20 days they said . The sample assessment was done in basthies , community halls among various communities .
