Pulwama Attack: Suicide Bomber Adil Ahmad Dar lived in 10 km from attack spot

New Delhi: Adil Ahmad Dar, the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist and suicide bomber behind the worst-ever terror attack carried on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir is reported to have been living in just 10 km from the attack spot where he rammed his car full of explosives into the security convoy that has martyred over 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on Thursday.

Inspired by Taliban the security bomber was also known as “Adil Ahmad Gaadi Takranewala” and “Waqas Commando of Gundibagh.”

He is reported to have joined the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e- Mohammad last year, NDTV reports.

According to police records on available on Adil, he was aged around 22 and was a school dropout from Gundibagh village in south Kashmir’s insurgency-hit -Pulwama district.

After dropping out of school in March 2017 he reportedly joined the Pakistan-based terror group led by Masood Azhar a year later

“My name is Adil, I joined the Jaish e Mohammad a year ago. After a year’s wait, I have got the chance to do what I joined the Jaish for… By the time this video reaches you, I will be in heaven… this is my last message for the people of Kashmir,” Adil Ahmad said in the video which surfaced after he carried out the deadly attack.

Now Investigators in the nation are baffled at the scale of the attack carried out by the terror group given the belief that the entire leadership of Jaish was wiped out over the years.

The security forces in India had killed Mohammad Usman the nephew of Moulana Masood Azhar, the chief of Jaish-e-Mohammad last year while two years back the forces also killed Jaish’s operational chief Khalid in Baramulla.

According to the police, Adil Ahmad Dar was the third local “fidayeen” or suicide terrorist recruited by the Jaish-e-Mohammad for a big suicide attack.

According to reports, the were Fardeen Ahmad Khan, 16, of Tral and 17-year-old Afaq Ahmad Shah.

Fardeen Ahmad Khan was killed on December 31, 2017 after he and three other foreign militants sneaked into the CRPF training centre at Lethpora and killed five personnel.

While Afaq according to police reports was the first local fidayeen to carry out a car bomb attack on the forces in the early 2000 where he blew up an explosive-laden vehicle outside the 15 Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh on the outskirts of Srinagar killing eight troopers.
