After Qatar, Saudi Arabia’s relations strained with Kuwait

Kuwait: Deputy Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah has strongly protested against the insult of Kuwaiti minister by a Saudi official. He had conveyed “regrets and admonishment” to the Saudi ambassador to Kuwait over remarks directed at the minister of youth and sport, Khalid al-Roudhan, by the head of Saudi Arabia’s sports committee, Turki Al al-Sheikh, who is also a Saudi royal court adviser.

In a post on Monday on his official Twitter account, Saudi royal court adviser Turki Al Sheikh attacked Kuwait’s minister of commerce and industry, Khaled Al-Roudhan, calling him a “mercenary under the umbrella of a position.”

After the criticism of Kuwaiti official by Saudi advisor, the relations between two countries have strained and are likely to strain further. Kuwait warned against potential damage to bilateral ties in a meeting with the Saudi ambassador.
