QS Awarded Crescent University an ‘Overall 4 Star Rating’ for excellence in Education

Chennai : The World top University Ranking agency QS has awarded Crescent University, a prestigious “4 Star Rating” in the Overall category. Abdul Qadir A. Rahman Buhari, Chairman, Board of Management of the Institute, received the certificate of rating from Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director – Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, QS Intelligence Unit, UK. Dr. H. Devaraj, Former Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) was present. The event took place in the city today.

Very few Universities across the globe have been awarded the 4 Star Rating by QS. Crescent is the fourth in India, to receive an Overall 4 Star Rating. Earlier, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysore; SRM University, Chennai and VIT University, Vellore were given the QS recognition.

Following the awarding of QS Stars, Ashwin Fernandes briefed on the QS Star Rating and unveiled the QS Star results. Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Bin Abu Bakar, Vice-Chancellor addressed the gathering through Skype. Dr. M. S. Haji Sheik Mohammed, Registrar; Dr. P.S. Syed Masood Jamali, Dean, School of Arabic and Islamic Studies and Dr. R. Raja Prabu, Director (Accreditation, Ranking and International Affairs), of the University were others present.

“We feel elated that our service and quality in the sphere of education has won global recognition, a testimony to our commitment towards future of the students. Recognitions like this will help strengthen the trust factor the parents, corporates and other stakeholders have on the knowledge and skills our students gain with the best-in-class pedagogy here,” said Abdul Qadir A. Rahman Buhari.

Out of the 8 parameters considered for evaluation by QS, Crescent has bagged “5 Star Rating” for 4 parameters viz., Teaching; Employability; Facilities and Inclusiveness. The other 4 parameters are Research; Internationalization; Social Responsibility and Program Strength.

The QS Star Rating Audit Process was initiated during April 2017 and after five rounds of audit process, the Crescent has been awarded an Overall 4 Star Rating.

Earlier, Crescent is accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with “A” Grade, 16 + 04 programmes (16 UG and 4 PG) “Accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation)” under Tier – I, under Washington Accord and a “Top 100” NIRF Ranking (National Institutional Ranking Framework).
