Hyderabad: Rachakonda SHE-teams booked 52 cases against eve-teasers in the last one month and apprehended 59 eve teasers, including 46 majors and 13 minors. All the eve teasers attended the counseling session conducted by Rachakonda SHE teams, at the Commissioner Camp office, Nagole, LB Nagar, along with their family members.
The offenders were counseled by professional counselors from the Bhumika Women’s Collective (NGO). Children in conflict with law also were counseled by professional psychiatrist Dr Vasavi to bring change in their behavior.
The cases booked included one related to complaint from a fashion design student who was targeted by a motorcyclist at Vanasthalipuram. Following her complaint, the SHE Team, after verifying CCTV footage, identified the suspect, a mechanic from Yakutpura and arrested him.
In another case, a footwear shop salesperson was arrested for misbehaving with a woman customer. Another complaint was from a homemaker who was sexually harassed by the husband of her friend.
The SHE Teams also carried out decoy operations and made arrests of those harassing women at Badangpet and Yacharam. Seven juveniles were apprehended red-handed while teasing students of a girls college at Ramanthapur, the release said.
Meanwhile, two child marriages, one under Jawaharnagar police station limits and another at Turkapally, were stopped by the teams and the families were given counselling.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mahesh M Bhagwat, appreciated the work done by the SHE Teams and appealed to women/girls from Rachakonda to approach the police through WhatsApp control number 9490617111 or dial 100 whenever they faced harassment.
