Hyderabad: Sounding the bugle for the prestigious electoral battle to take on the TRS in Telangana State in the ensuing 2019 elections, AICC President Rahul Gandhi on Monday tried to woo the women voters by asserting that their welfare and security can be possible only under the Congress regime in the state.

Addressing a vast gathering of women belonging to the DWACRA and other societies at the Classic Convention Centre near Shamshabad in the city, on his maiden visit to the state after taking the reins of the Congress lashed out at both the Modi Government at the Centre and the KCR Government in the state for utterly failing to protect the welfare and security of women. While both the governments were appeasing the big businessmen and industrialists by waiving their loans, the poor people including the farmers and women were completely being neglected. While big businessmen and industrialists were being provided financial assistance, the poor were being left on the lurch.

He asserted that if the Congress is voted to power in the state, it would be by the first priority of the government to ensure the well being of the poor and downtrodden. He assured that the Congress regime would reintroduce the Abhaya Hastham programme for the welfare of the poor and he women.
