Rahul Gandhi forms Steering Committee replacing CWC

New Delhi : Congress president Rahul Gandhi has constituted a Steering Committee for the upcoming plenary session.

The committee consists of 34 members, including former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former defence minister AK Antony, senior party leaders such as Ahmed Patel, Ghulam Nabi Azad, P Chidambaram, Ambika Soni and others.

The steering committee, which is formed ahead of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) plenary session, will function in place of the working committee.

“The Congress President Rahul Gandhi has constituted a Steering Committee for the forthcoming Plenary Session as per Article XV (vii) (b) of the Party Constitution. The Steering Committee will function in place of the Working Committee of the party,” the statement released by the party said.

The meeting of the steering committee will be held on Saturday at the AICC office. (ANI)
