Rahul repeats charge against KCR of looting State

Hyderabad: Terming Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as “Khao Commission Rao” (KCR), Congress president Rahul Gandhi has alleged that KCR had looted the State in the name of construction of irrigation projects. “The Congress party wanted to construct Palamuru-Ranga Reddy irrigation project at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore, but KCR increased the budget to Rs 60,000 crore in the name of redesigning of the projects and resorted to the corruption by helping the contractors to loot the money and give him the commissions,” he alleged.

Addressing a public meeting at Gadwal Assembly constituency today, Rahul made it clear that the Congress party would complete the project in two phases after coming to power. Noting that the State was a rich State in the initial days of its formation, Rahul said every citizen of the State now had a debt burden of Rs 1 lakh on his head. “While the citizens have a debt of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads, the family members of KCR had earned Rs 400 crore during the last four-and-a-half years.

Rahul asked KCR how many jobs had he provided out of the 30 lakh unemployed in the State. He alleged that the State government failed to provide fee reimbursement dues to lakhs of students. Gandhi said the CM had also cheated SCs and the STs by not fulfilling the promises made to them. He promised to give Rs 5 lakh financial aid for construction of houses to the homeless families in the State, Rs 3,000 stipend to the unemployed in the State, Rs 5 lakh health cover under Aarogyasri scheme and allocation of 20 percent funds for Education sector of the State.

Targeting the trio — TRS, MIM and BJP, Rahul Gandhi said they were one and the same and had a secret truce for the Assembly elections. He also said KCR was the rubber stamp of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that the MIM party was contesting the elections to divide the anti-TRS votes in the State. “The TRS is the B-team of the BJP while the MIM was the C team of the saffron party. All these parties want to benefit the TRS by dividing the anti-TRS votes”, Rahul added.
