Rahul’s election ‘murder of internal democracy’ in Congress: Ali

New Delhi: Congress leader from western Uttar Pradesh Ayub Ali, who wanted to contest the presidential election against Rahul Gandhi, on Monday called the election of Gandhi a “murder of internal democracy in Congress”.

“The nation knows that I had filed nomination for Congress President post,” Ali said on Twitter.

“However, CEA (Central Election Authority) president Mullapallyji (Ramachandran) has announced unopposed election of Rahul Gandhi as party president leading to murder of internal democracy in Congress,” he added.

Ali last week had alleged that he wanted to contest the presidential election in the party against Vice President Rahul Gandhi but was prevented from doing so.

He told reporters that he had gone to meet Ramchandran and was not only disallowed to file the nomination papers for the post but also shouted at.
