Rajasthan: Minor 8YO dalit girl raped, killed

Kota: In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor 8-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar region on Wednesday, the police stated.

The minor victim hailed from Nolai village in Pagariya region of Jhalawar district and was reported to have gone missing since Tuesday evening when she had gone for grazing cattle. The victim used to live with her maternal grandparents in a village.

According to reports, the victim’s partly naked body was found in an agricultural field by the villagers on Wednesday morning by villagers who informed the Police. The victim’s slippers and a stick was also found near the body, HT reports.

Station house officer, Pagariya police station, Radha Kishan, said that the victim’s family approached the police for help on Tuesday night following which the police started to search for the girl.

Except for a scratch on her chest, there were no other visible injury marks on her body said the report.

The SHO said the victim had gone to graze the cattle after returning from school on Tuesday but she did not return home till late in the evening after which the family started to search for her.

While the investigation was being conducted by the officers, a man present in the crowd tried to commit suicide by holding a live wire in his house.
He was rushed to Jhalawar hospital where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be critical, the SHO said.

A case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem and was later handed over to the family.
