Rajnath calls for specialization in policing

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday called for specialization in policing to provide world class services to the people.

“Law enforcement agencies should stress the need to give special training to police officers as per their area of interest to enhance professional skills and capabilities,” the Minister said while addressing the Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers of 2017 batch here.

Exhorting the young officers to adapt themselves to the rapid changes in technology and the threats posed by cybercrimes, Singh said emerging law and order challenges such as hitech crimes, terrorism and Left-wing Extremism are of diverse nature which calls for quick and decisive response and require expertise.

The Home Minister stressed constant communication and interaction with general public with a human touch, saying “it is the basic need for performing government duties specially the policing duties”.

He also asked the IPS probationers to maintain constant flow of information with public to solve their problems and suggested them to adopt yoga to bust their stress while performing duty.

Additional Secretary (Police) P.K. Srivastava, Director General Border Security Force Rajni Kant Misra and Director Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy D.R. Doley Barman were present on the occasion.
