Rajnath discusses national security, minority issues with Muslim clerics

New Delhi : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh discussed issues concerning national security and those disturbing the minority community during a meeting with the Muslim clerics on Tuesday.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and former Samajwadi Party leader Kamal Farooqui were also present at the meeting, which took place at the Home Minister’s official 17, Akbar Road residence here.

Farooqui, who informed the media about this meeting, said national security and the prevailing atmosphere in the country were discussed.

“The issues, which are disturbing the minorities, were also discussed. All the Muslim organisations in the country are against Islamic State (IS) and terrorism and are ready to sacrifice anything for the nation,” Farooqui said.

“We also raised concerns regarding the arrest of suspects. We said that after staying in jail for 14 years, they are proved innocent and thus their lives are ruined,” he added.

He also said that the Home Minister has assured them that all the discussed issues would be looked upon and such meetings would be scheduled in the future as well.

The Home Minister had recently met representatives of 13 security agencies of different states to discuss the alarming influence of the IS over youths through social media. (ANI)
