Hyderabad: The Civil Supplies Department has started supplying rice to Aanganwadi centers through ration shops from Friday. With transparency and accountability rice was being supplied to 35,700 Aanganwadi centers in the State and Biometric authentication was used with ePOS systems at Ration Shops.
Finger prints and Aadhar authentication of all the 72,000 Aanganwadi workers, helpers and supervisors are linked to e-POS machines with coordination of National Informatics Centre (NIC) in this process. On Friday, supply of rice to Anganwadi centers started Statewide. Women & Child Welfare Department Principal Secretary M. Jagadeeshwar, Director Viziendira Boyi, Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabharwal, MLA C. Mallareddy inspected quality of rice and supply process from Fair Price shops in Medchal District. They also said both the Civil Supplies Department and Women & Child Welfare Department would coordinate with each other to make sure there are no hurdles in the supply of rice and also not to compromise in the quality of rice supplied.
In Mahbubnagar district, Narayanpet MLA Rajender Reddy, Collector Ronald Ross; Jagitial district MLA M. Sanjay Kumar; Kamareddy Collector N. Satyanarayana; Nalgonda Collector Dr Gaurav Uppal, Joint Collector C. Narayana Reddy; Nizamabad Joint Collector Ravinder Reddy; Mancherial Joint Collector Y. Surender Rao; Nirmal Collector M. Prashanti, Joint Collector M. Bhaskara Rao; Peddapally Joint Collector M. Vanaja Devi; in Siddipet district Joint Collector S. Padmakar have started Ration rice supply to Anganwadi centers.
With biometric authentication, it would be easy to get the details like on which day have Anganwadi center organizers taken rice, how much quantity, how many persons have taken and the remaining balance. Previously rice was supplied to Anganwadi centers from Civil Supplies godowns through transport contractors. Several complaints of malpractices were reported in the transportation. To stop these malpractices, the State government has taken this initiative.
Rice will be supplied to the 35,700 Anganwadi centers from ration shops. Biometric authentication will prevent malpractices in supply of rice and government funds also will be saved.
