Ready to launch food processing unit if subsidy given: Ramdev

Yoga Guru Baba Ram Dev has said he would not only extend his support, but also he will participate in the nation-wide agitation in Delhi for setting up of a national turmeric board.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and local MP K Kavitha, Baba Ram Dev said justice would be done to the farmers only with the setting up of national turmeric board. Stating that the Chief Minister was working for more rights to the States and farmers, he made it clear that he would take part in the development of the State along with the State government.

Baba Ram Dev assured that he would set up Patanjali units for production of goods based on turmeric, sweet corn, sweet lemon, jawar. He said 50 percent of food processing units belong to Patanjali. He said though profit was less and risk was more with food processing units, they were running them for the benefit of the farmers. He made it clear that he would launch food processing units immediately if the TRS government gave needed subsidies.

Harish Rao said the State government was ready to work with Patanjali and the Cabinet sub-committee on food processing will submit its report very soon. He said the State government will provide required subsidies to ensure benefit to farmers. (NSS)
