Reality of Modi’s model village by Dhruv Rathee

VARANASI: The Jayapur village, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana scheme in 2014 rues no follow-up on development works.

Under the scheme, each parliamentarian have to develop three Adarsh Grams each over five years i.e; by 2019.

The village with around 3,000 residents and 400 households has been adopted as an adarsh or model village. However, the residents of sleepy village say that old toilets were demolished to construct a new one under Modi’s flagship scheme—Swachh Bharat Mission but till day no new toilets were constructed.

There were solar panels installed but that too got stolen now.

Scheduled to attain the ‘model village’ tag by 2016, the condition of this village is shocking even after five years of PM Modi are up.

Ironically, this same village was also adopted in 2002 by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) under the ideal village scheme.
