Gandhinagar: After a Dalit was lynched by members of upper caste Rajput community for sporting moustache, men from Gujarat started a social media campaign posting selfies wearing a moustache.
Two Dalits of a village near Gandhinagar in two separate incidents were allegedly thrashed by Rajput men for “sporting a moustache” last month. One incident occurred on September 25, while the other took place on September 29 at Limbodara village in Kalol taluka of Gandhinagar district.

Twitter users in a protest against the violence, posted selfies sporting moustaches. They used hashtags such as #RightToMoustache and came out in support of Piyush Parmar, one of the victims thrashed in Gujarat.

Adding to the list of Dalits’ lynching, a 21-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men belonging to the upper caste Patel community for attending a Garba event in Anand district of Gujarat in the early hours on Sunday.
