Record number of women joining workforce in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Thanks to the economic reforms in Saudi Arabia during the past few years surprisingly there has been an upsurge in the number of women employees. Under the economic reforms programme, local youth are given opportunities. While the number of men employees has increased during the past two years, a record number of women employees were also seen joining the workforce.

According to the latest data, half of the employees who joined the workforce recently are women. According to a report, the number of employees has increased upto 2.60 lakh in Saudi Arabia during the past one year. They were provided jobs in sales and other departments. Of them, 48 pc jobs were given to women. The report shows that out of the 2.6 lakh employees who joined during the past two years, 1.25 lakh were women.

During the first quarter of 2017, 24000 Saudi nationals got jobs and the number of employees increased by 20 per cent until the 3rd quarter of 2018. A record number of women joined the workforce in all areas of Saudi Arabia.
