Chandigarh: Ever since the saffron party has come to power, several atrocities against Minority communities have been reported across the nation, be it men or children belonging to the Muslim community or other scheduled caste, people are blindly following the right-wing group ideologies.
With Lok Sabha elections slated for next year and BJP party experiencing strained relations with its allies, patron of Sikh-centered regional political party – Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and former Punjab CM Parkash Badal has advised the party to “dispel the perception of insecurity among the minorities” in order to win the next elections, Indian Express reported.
BJP president Amit Shah visited former CM at his MLA flat in Chandigarh on Thursday, one of the demands and “suggestions” made by Badal was to “dispel the perception of insecurity among the minorities”, said a senior SAD leader who attended the meeting.
Amit Shah held a closed-door meeting with Badal and his son and SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for nearly an hour since BJP – SAD ties are also strained.
The closed-door meeting was immediately followed by another meeting with the top leaders of SAD and BJP.
Addressing the meeting Amit Shah asked the leaders to strategize to win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
SAD leaders have been complaining about BJP’s attitude towards its allies with the saffron party giving no respect to its partner allies.
The SAD members even had to push harder for waiving the GST on items used for langar following which the waiver was announced recently.
The SAD leadership was also miffed at BJP over appointments in National Commission for Minorities, saying Akalis were not given any representation in the Commission.

Senior Akali leaders and Rajya Sabha members Naresh Gujral and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Lok Sabha MP Prem Singh Chandumajra had also expressed their displeasure earlier this year at BJP’s “uncaring attitude” towards its alliance partners.
Except for Gujral, Dhindsa, Chandumajra and others were present at the follow-up meeting with Shah.
SAD patron Sukhbir told the reporters that SAD was a “permanent ally of BJP and a permanent member of NDA” and that there was “no conflict” between the two parties.
He also said all NDA parties should come together as one to win the next Lok Sabha elections.
