Renowned Tamil TV anchor marries her Muslim beau against father’s wish, trolled

CHENNAI: Popular video jockey Manimegalai ties the knot with her beau Hussain after failing to convince her father for their love. The couple got married on Wednesday morning in a private affair at a register office in Chennai.

The Sun TV anchor took to her official Twitter handle to announce her decision to sudden marriage after failing to convince her father and also things got out of hands.

Posting a picture with her beau Hussein, she wrote:

“Hussain & Me Got Married Today Sudden Register Marriage. Failed to convince my Dad, went out of Hands, hence this decision. I strongly believe that he ll understand me 1 day. LOVE HAS NO RELIGION I Love You Hussain ❤ Sri Rama Jayam Allah. [sic]” Manimegalai tweeted.

Manimegalai was in the news recently for being physically assaulted by her family over her serious relationship with her boyfriend, who is from other religion.

She denied the rumours but admitted that her family hasn’t approved the union like any other parents as religion of Hussein was an issue for the them.

She has clarified and also posted on Twitter, “I’m blessed with a good family. They never Assaulted me !”

However, Twitterati criticised her decision for marrying a man outside her religion and also against her father’s wish.

Manimegalai started her career as a television anchor in 2010, with the programme ‘Super Hits’ on Sun Music. She shot to fame with a show called Franka Sollatta on Sun TV.
