Reports on J&K SPOs resigning are false propaganda: MHA

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a statement released today said reports on J&K Policemen resigning are just false propaganda.

The sudden abduction and killings of three unarmed policemen early in the morning by Hizbul Mujahideen today has deepened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Clarifying on the reports of Jammu and Kashmir Policemen resigning, the Ministry said none of the Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir has resigned and the reports are false, TOI reports.

“Reports have appeared in a section of media that some SPOs in Jammu and Kashmir have resigned. The state police have confirmed that these reports are untrue and motivated. These reports are based on false propaganda by mischievous elements,” said the MHA.

“There are over 30,000 SPOs and their services are reviewed from time to time. Some mischievous elements are trying to project that those SPOs whose services are not renewed due to administrative reasons have resigned,” the statement continued.

Earlier in the day, the policemen identified as constable Nissar Ahmed and two special police officers, Firdous Ahmed and Kulwant Singh d from their homes at Batagund and Kapran villages, the police confirmed.

They were later found murdered in an orchard in Jammu and Kashmir.
