Demanding an inquiry by CBI or Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on the “irregularities” in power purchase deals and power projects, Congress leader A Revanth Reddy said he was ready to rub his nose at Abids center if his allegations were proved wrong. He made it clear that he would prove his every allegation on power purchase and power generation in the State with all evidence.
Revanth Reddy, along with Alampur MLA Sampath Kumar, former MP Ravindra Naik, P Karthik Reddy and others, waited at the Gun Park for open debate on power purchase and power generation with the ruling party leaders on Friday.
Speaking to the media there, Revanth Reddy alleged corruption in power purchase deals and Bhadradri, Yadadri power plants. He said TRS leaders Balka Suman, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Bhanu Prasad had thrown a challenge asked him to come for open debate. He said he was ready for open debate on January 12 at any place. But they didn’t turn up, he said.
Revanth Reddy reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who had stated that blood will flow if Polavaram project was constructed, later swallowed his pledge as a benami company SEW, which invested in Namasthe Telangana Telugu news daily, got tenders for Polavaram project. “When I exposed it, then chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy cancelled the tenders”, he stated.
Stating that the State government allotted tenders worth Rs 30,400 crore to the BHEL without inviting tenders, Revanth said there was no rule that the works could be handed over to government firm on nomination basis. Due to this, the Genco suffered a loss of Rs 5,000 crore, he alleged, adding that the Telangana State has to bear Rs 12,500 crore loss due to outdated technology to be used in Bhadradri power plant in the coming 25 years.
Faulting Power Minister G Jagdeesh Reddy for stating that they entered into an MoU with a single firm, Revanth Reddy said the Andhra Pradesh government had addressed a letter to the Telangana State on March 1, 2016, stating that they were ready to sell power @ Rs.4.62 per unit as they have surplus power. “But Telangana government declined the offer and purchasing power from private companies at high prices for the sake of commissions.
Sampath ridicules rumor of his joining TRS
Stating that the TRS leaders accepted their defeat by not attending the open debate on corruption charges on power purchase and power production, S A Sampath Kumar accused TRS MP Balka Suman and MLCs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Bhanu Prasad of spreading rumors saying that he (Sampath Kumar) will join the TRS party. “I will not join the TRS under any circumstances”, he asserted.
