Revanth urges Guv to order inquiry into arrests of Congress leaders

Hyderabad: Congress leader A Revanth Reddy today alleged that care-taker government fixed former Whip and Congress leader T Jagga Reddy in human trafficking case with political revenge. He demanded that the police question K Chandrashekhar Rao and T Harish Rao on the basis of testimony of accused Rashid Ali in human trafficking case.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy alleged that names of KCR and Harish Rao were also in the testimony of Rashid Ali given to CID on May 22, 2007. Jagga Reddy’s name was not mentioned in Rashid Ali’s testimony, he said, adding that the police arrested Jagga Reddy in human trafficking case.

Revanth Reddy said then City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy filed charge-sheet on August 24, 2017 on the case of 2007. He alleged that Mahender Reddy removed the names of the leaders of the ruling party. He claimed that the police arrested Jagga Reddy as part of political conspiracy. He said the Governor should look after the law and order under GHMC limits as per Section 8 of AP Reorganization Act.

He urged the Governor to order an inquiry into the issue with a sitting judge immediately. He made it clear that they will approach the Court if the Governor failed to respond on his allegation. He said KCR was trying to win the elections by threatening the Congress leaders. He alleged that KCR made the police to file cases in connection with Housing Society with political vendetta.

Meanwhile, West Zone DCP AR Srinivas said they served notices on 13 persons, including Revanth Reddy, to give explanation in 15 days. He said Revanth Reddy sought time as he was busy with election campaigning.
