Rich tributes paid to Prof. Syeda Jaffar in HCU

Hyderabad: Dept. of Urdu, University of Hyderabad organized a meeting to condole the death of Prof. Syeda Jaffar. The meeting was held on 27th June under the chairmanship of Prof. Muzaffar Ali, Head of the Dept. of Urdu.

In the meeting, a mention was made about her literary, research and critical contribution to Urdu language and literature. Prof. Muzaffar Ali in his condolence resolution mentioned that she served at Nizam College, Osmania University and University of Hyderabad. She was the Head of the Dept. of Urdu of Osmania University and University of Hyderabad. She spent all her life in teaching and writing. She authored 30 books. She was also associated with National Council of Promotion of Urdu Language, Sahitya Academy, South India Urdu Academy etc. She was awarded “Writer in Residence” fellowship by Sahitya Academy.

Dr. Habeeb Nisar, Professor of Urdu of HCU paid rich tributes to Prof. Syeda Jaffar and said that she was the greatest researcher of Deccani Urdu. With her demise, an era of Deccani studies came to an end.

Dr. Arshiya told that she was aggrieved with the demise Prof. Syeda Jaffar. Dr. Mohammed Kashif prayed for her. Present on this occasion were Dr. Mohammed Zahidul Haq, Asst. Professor of Urdu, a large number of research scholars and students.
