Rioters had attempted Kasganj-like riots in Delhi too; hoisted saffron flags at masajid

New Delhi: Rioters had attempted to spark Kasganj-like riots on Republic Day in the national capital as well, however, minority community showed patience and foiled their attempt. Miscreants hoisted saffron flags at 6 places of worship and shouted provocative slogans. A complaint was lodged with Delhi police but no FIR was filed nor was an arrest made.

The rioters shouted slogans against the minority community. They were so emboldened that they entered into the masjid at the time of Friday prayer and hoisted the saffron flag on the roof of the masjid in front of hundreds of devotees.

However, Muslims maintained peace and foiled their nefarious plan of sparking communal violence. The masajid in which saffron flags were hoisted are Jama Masjid Addawali, Alipur, Alipur Garhi Masjid, Bakhtawarpur Masjid, Akberpur Majra Masjid, Pallagaun Masjid, Hameedpur Masjid.

Aslam Ahmed of Jama Masjid Addawali said when hundreds of devotees were praying Friday prayer, some miscreants arrived on motorcycles. They barged into the masjid, pushed and shoved devotees, they went to the roof of the masjid wearing shoes thus violating the sanctity of the masjid and hoisted saffron flag there.

Later they shouted slogans and tried to create riots. But the Muslims maintained calm.

In the complaint lodged with the police, it was stated that the rioters indulged in rioting at the behest of BJP leader and his son.
