MUMBAI: Veteran actor Randhir Kapoor has responded to reports about younger brother Rishi Kapoor being diagnosed with cancer.Randhir on Rishi Kapoor’s

The rumour of Rishi suffering from cancer becomes viral following his missing from his mother, Krishna Raj Kapoor’s funeral, who passed away on October 1.

Randhir Kapoor in an interaction with ET refuted the reports and said: “We don’t know yet what is the exact nature of his ailment. Rishi himself doesn’t know what he’s suffering from. He has not even started undergoing tests there; how can people speculate that he has cancer and that too, one that has escalated to an advanced stage. Let him undergo tests peacefully; whatever the results, we will let everyone know. He only reached America two-three days ago and so far, he was being prepared for the tests that he has to undergo. Depending on what the results are, his line of treatment, medication and other modalities will be decided upon. It’s not fair to speculate things just like that.”

Rishi, 66, on Saturday, September 29 took to Twitter, where he asked his fans and followers to not to worry or speculate.

“Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years ‘plus’ of wear and tear at the movies,” Rishi wrote.

“With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!”

Rishi made his acting debut in Bollywood with “Mera Naam Joker” in 1970. He was later seen in films like “Bobby”, “Khel Khel Mein”, “Kabhie Kabhie”, “Karz”, “Amar Akbar Anthony”, “Hum Kisise Kum Naheen”, “Rafoo Chakkar”, “Bol Radha Bol”, “Fanaa”, “Love Aaj Kal” and “Kapoor & Sons” among many others.

He was last seen onscreen in “Mulk” and will next be seen in “Rajma Chawal” by Leena Yadav.
