Rs 17,000 cr for Education by 2022: Jagadish

Minister G Jagadish Reddy informed the Assembly that the government was planning to spend a total of Rs 17,000 crore for Education with facilities and infrastructure by 2022.

During a debate on education, the minister claimed that the TRS Government has launched 500 Gurukul schools and colleges to provide quality education to poor. “During three and a half years rule we have achieved many victories by providing facilities and improving standards. Students of our welfare hostels like Purna and Anand had scaled Mount Everest and set a record due to government encouragement”, he said and slammed the Opposition for its baseless comments that the government was neglecting the gurukul schools and colleges.

Stating that KG to PG scheme is to provide quality education he said that gurukul schools being set up for fifth standard and launched 30 gurukul colleges for girls. The students of these institutions have got seats in noted and prestigious institutions including 60 in IIT, 87 in MMBS, 174 NIT, 4 IIIT which speaks the volumes of the institutions he claimed.

The government is providing funds, filling up posts and extending support for Telugu, English and other subjects besides language skills. KCR has discussed about Telangana future in 2012 and now keeping the promises towards education sector he said. The previous governments neglected education and the TRS is setting it right Jagadish said adding that 53 degree residential colleges were set up by the government. A total of 3.32 lakh students are studying in 801 gurukul colleges in the state and 90 per cent of students achieving better results. Since the matter of teachers strike is subjudice the government will not take any decision, he added. (NSS
