Rs 2 Lakh Rythu bandhu loan for turmeric farmers: Harish

Irrigation & Marketing Minister T Harish Rao today announced that Rythu Bandhu scheme will be implemented for turmeric farmers in the State. Nizamabad MP Kavitha called on the minister at Jala Saudha and urged the State government to provide immediate monetary help to the turmeric farmers as the price of the produce has come down.

During a review meeting on several crops, including turmeric and others, irrigation projects in Nizamabad district, Harish Rao asked the officials to offer Rs 2 lakh loan facility without interest for six months immediately to turmeric farmers, who stored turmeric at the cold storages. “Implement Rythu Bandhu scheme to the turmeric farmers and provide monetary assistance and do not seek interest for six months”, he asked the officials. He also appealed to the farmers to sell their produce only at remunerative price by stocking the same in the cold storages.

Harish Rao asked Joint Director of Marketing Ravi Kumar to visit Nizamabad on Sunday to take stock of turmeric crop and related issues. Reacting to MP Kavitha’s request, the minister asked the JD to set up Rs 5 crore worth Mango Market in Jagtial. A joint meeting of Markfed, Horticulture and Apeda will be conducted to discuss on the mango yield, marketing facilities and steps for MSP on February 9, he said.
Harish Rao said he would make a visit to Bodhan and participate in some developmental programs. He told Kavithat that he would visit Bodhan on February 19. He also reviewed several projects in Niazamabad Lok Sabha constituency to inspect irrigation projects, check dams, modernization of canals and rehabilitation and succor to the affected people of Nizamsagar Project under 20 package.
