Rs 20,146 cr to make Hyderabad a global city: KTR

Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao today said that Rs 20,146 cr will be spent for making Hyderabad a global city. He held a review meeting with officials here and discussed on the plan to make the city a global city by giving a face lift through roads, facilities, infrastructure, lights, water supply, expansion of Nalas, Musi river development and beautification.

The minister said that about Rs 20,146 cr needed for all-round development of the city and funds will be spent through water board, GHMC and Musi Development corporation. The minister is holding discussions with the banks and financial institutions to mobilize the funds for the mega project. He explained that Rs 6700 cr need for roads development, Rs 2926 cr for water supply and Mission Bhagiratha, Rs 1665 cr for musi development, Rs 400 cr LED lighting, Rs 230 cr for nalas expansion, Rs 8225 cr for double bedroom scheme. In addition to this, Rs 7000 cr needed additionally to construct a reservoir for providing drinking waters to the city he said. Related works worth Rs 10000 cr have already been started and coordination among the departments is on.

The minister said that Hyderabad, which is financial hub of Telangana and heart for the government, needs to be developed as a global city with improved facilities and infrastructure which needs Rs 20000 cr. For this we need to implement short term and long term plans and involve all the departments to achieve the goal he said. KTR said that white topping will be taken for 350 km roads, SRDP works began at several places, Rs 100 cr DPRs are ready and Rs 2500 cr DPRs are in pipeline and Rs 8225 will be spent for double bedroom scheme for which works began at 109 places in the city he said. A big reservoir will be built at Keshavapuram with Rs 7000 cr and LED bulbs will be fixed by Deepavali festival, KTR said.(NSS)
