Ruling party left farmers in lurch, says Bhatti

Hyderabad: CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday alleged that the State government was ignoring the agitations of red jowar and turmeric farmers. He also alleged that the claims of the State government that it had bought red jowar were totally wrong. He demanded that the State government purchase jowar @ Rs 3,000 per quintal minimum support price.

Addressing the media at Gandhi bhavan, Vikramarka said middlemen were cheating the red jowar farmers due to the negligent attitude of the State government towards them. He wanted to know where ruling party MP Kavitha, who had promised to set up turmeric board had gone while there was taker for turmeric in the State from the farmers. He demanded that the State government to buy turmeric @ Rs 10,000 per quintal from the farmers. He also alleged that the agriculture sector was facing crisis due to the negligent attitude of the State government. Giving an assurance to the farmers, the CLP leader said they would go to any place in the State for the sake of the farmers.
Commenting on the applications being received by the party for tickets for Lok Sabha seats, Bhatti said they received a large number of applications from the aspirants. He said clarity would emerge on the possible electoral alliance in the ensuing Parliament elections. He also said he would hold a discussion on the issue and submit a final report to the party high command for its approval for its formal announcement.
